400 and counting.

You guys. I’m all teary.

Hi Glark and Pamie,

It seems weird to me, after all this time, that you have real names. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you a few things. Under the name Witch Baby, I’ve been a follower of the TWoP collective since Dawson’s Wrap, waaaaay back in the day. Some of my favorite Internet memories are of Fametracker’s boards. As of August of last year, I’m also a graduate student in Library and Information Science. My graduate school is the University of Southern Mississippi, located in Hattiesburg. I’d been living here for 15 days when Katrina struck. I stayed. The Mississippi library community has spent the last year trying to rebuild and it’s been such an honor for me to be able to help in a thousand minor ways with that. I’ve sorted through books in the Biloxi Library and seen how second hand, used, and often out-of-print and discarded donations sent from all over, while well meaning, are not helpful. To know that you guys are tackling this the proper way, with the army of the TWoP family behind it all, well, it makes me feel such a wave of affection and love. You really can’t understand how much it will mean to people.

Sharon Davis is an alumni of USM and a genuinely lovely woman who is also a lot of fun (and a big fan of Orlando Bloom.) You’re lucky to be working with her, she is truly an exemplary example of librarianship. I have some pictures taken at the end of March in and around Biloxi and Gulfport and I’d be happy to share them. I don’t know where my professional life will take me, but I know that I will be forever grateful for the experience of being here now, it’s really taught me what my profession means to people, to the world. And I know that sounds trite, but it’s true.

I just wanted to say thank you, from my little corner of the world, for not just years and years of good times online but for this entire effort. Really. Thank you.
