2012 Book Drive Update! A Thank You from Taw Saeng

We at Taw Saeng are so grateful to all the readers who donated books to us through the Dewey Donation System! The first book to arrive was Where the Wild Things Are. Whoever sent that had great timing, as it arrived on our last day before a holiday break, and my last day before heading back to the US for a few months. It was so much fun to read the kids a book that I loved as a child. They were...

Updates, Winners, Goals, and Hooray!

Well, we’ve had quite the week here at Dewey Donation System, and we wanted to take a second to thank all of our generous donors, word-spreaders, book-lovers and Dewey-huggers. Books are starting to arrive in both DC and Chiang Mai. The DC Rollergirls are hard at work prepping their used book drive for this weekend’s bout, where they will sell grab-bags for five bucks. ...

Happy National Library Week!

Hooray! It’s time to hug your library! Dewey’s decked out in his finest to celebrate all things decimal, and we’ve got some exciting news and updates. First! We have only twelve books left on the Taw Saeng Amazon wishlist! That’s some impressive book-buying, you guys. The top few books on that list are through their Thai bookstore, but the remaining are through Amazon,...

Dewey’s Going Into the Ugly Cry Already!

Librarian alert! As of 5:00pm ET, we’ve had 48 donors give a total of $2,420! What a fantastic response. That will allow us to buy somewhere around 700 books and reach another 300 families! We’re so thrilled to be working with you all on this project – our Children’s Librarian, Micki Freeny, is all smiles today! I’m also impressed that so many of the contributors...

We have an anonymous benefactor! And she/he has thrown down a challenge! “I’ll donate $300 each to DC Star and Taw Saeng once Dewey is able to raise a combined $2000 from other donors.” Hey, guys! It’s Pamie. Aren’t anonymous donors kinda sexy? I always picture them with monocles and glasses of scotch. That probably says too much about me. I wanted to thank you for...

What You Gave!

Did you just do something good? We’re so proud of you! Please boast about your heroic efforts here. Tell us what you gave, why you gave it, and where you did your boasting. I mean, you have to brag about it. It’s kind of the coolest thing you could do today. We can’t wait to find out what awesome surprise awaits you. Wait, you do know about the Karmic power of Dewey, don’t you? ...

How We Found Taw Saeng

Longtime pamie.com fan Heather reached out to me with the following letter: Hey, Pam, Do you already have a school/library/organization picked out for the Dewey Donation System this year? Taw Saeng (the organization I’m working with) is suffering from a lack of new books. We have books that have been donated over the years, but most are from the 50′s, presumably sent by school...
