Thank you, Dewey, for providing such an opportunity. I volunteer at my local rural library, and I'm always happy to find new ways to share books.

I purchased three books for the Westfield Detention Center Book Club:

Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli

Your Own, Sylvia: A Verse Portrait of Sylvia Plath (Hardcover)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/037583799X/ref=oss_product

Rectangle Of Sins (Teri Woods Fable)

As someone who is about to start seeing a physical therapist, I appreciate all that you do! Thanks for the donations, and for spreading the word.

I think I am in love with the Westfield Detention Center Book Group. I went to their wish list and sent the first book I saw, The Confessions of Nat Turner by William Styron.

Congratulations on your newest book!

As a physical therapist, I really appreciate your day one wishlists highlighting children's hospitals.

I sent these titles to Riley Hospital for Children. I had orginially wanted to donate to UCSF where I got my doctoral degree, but they had only 6 things left on their list (awesome!), and saw the 6 page list of books for Riley's and figured they could use help.

Straight Talk About Death for Teenagers: How to Cope with Losing Someone You Love by EA Grollman (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0807025011/ref=ox_ya_os_product) because if there was ever a book a children's hospital unfortunately needed, this is probably it.

Childhood Brain and Spinal Cord Tumors: A Guide for Families, Friends, and Caregivers by T Shaminski-Maher (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0596500092/ref=ox_ya_os_product) because I've actually referred families, friends, and caregivers of adults with central nervous system tumors to this book because it's really a great resource.

Also, trying to spread the word in my limited circle on Livejournal and Facebook. Thanks for organizing such a wonderful way to give back.

I wasn't actually going to write since I didn't really want to seem as though I was donating books to win anything. However, after learning that not a lot of people are donating books, I wanted to at least alert you to my donations. I ended up buying four Discworld books for Alchesay High School through the Guys Lit Wire book drop event.

[It doesn't matter WHY you donated, it just matters that you did! Thank you so much. -pamie]

I like charities that you get to feel connected to actually doing something and not just sending a check (although I know checks are needed greatly).

I sent:

"A Window to Heaven: When Children See Life in Death"
Diane M. Komp

Asperger Syndrome and Difficult Moments: Practical Solutions for Tantrums, Rage, and Meltdowns"
Brenda Smith Myles

"Spanish Bible: Reina-Valera"
American Bible Society

Hope your knee is better soon! I tore the ligaments in my knee and it hurt like a bitch for quite a while.

I sent Laika by Nick Abadzis because who doesn't want to know about the dog who went to space.
It took me a few attempts because I don't understand US addresses!

Lovely to see Dewey back again!

So Pamie's blog post saying that this wishlist didn't get many donations made me sad. I skipped a $4 latte and a $6 subway lunch today so I decided I could afford to send a couple of books to the Westfield Detention Center:

Scepter of the Ancients (Skulduggery Pleasant)
By: Derek Landy, Tom Percival

Mister Pip
By: Lloyd Jones

This is an awfully fun way to celebrate National Library Week!

Jennie

PS - Having @deweydonation tweet at me was the highlight of my day yesterday. He's so sweet. ;-)
