About the DC STAR program

The DCPL would like you to know that they get these books at a huge discount through their distributor. So even though we’ve created an Amazon wishlist specifically for this drive, a cash donation might be worth a little more. Please note: STAR cannot accept gently-used books, even from third-party resellers.

They’re requesting fifty copies of each book. The average price of a discounted book through the DCPL’s distributor is five dollars. That means for just five bucks, you are sponsoring a child (and a family!) through the STAR program.

If we raise $3,000, the STAR program will have enough money to purchase all 550 books they’ve requested, helping them to their goal of reaching 600 families this year.
